Goodness = Deserving good

The one fun part of therapy is the conversations and discussions that come up. Recently, I had a lovely conversation with a client. They proposed the question of if we are good then don’t we all deserve good things. And this isn’t the first time I have heard this question but it is the one question that I do get asked the most. And it is one of my favourite questions, mostly because there is no right answer and it revolves around perspective and thought.  Let me break my thoughts down for you. I do believe that we are all...

On Trial For Error

On Trial For Error

With being the most talked about trial in the media, the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard case is something I simply had to check out to see what the hype was all about. What started out with curiosity ended with so many thoughts. Here’s a quick fun fact about myself: I’m not one for keeping up with trends or media, but honestly, the memes just lured me in. Out of Sight does not mean Out of Mind

The other day, I was sitting in an autorickshaw, stuck in traffic and supremely irritated because of the heat wave. But here’s the thing, when you are in an autorickshaw, you inadvertently observe everyone going on with their daily life. So naturally, even I was just observing when I noticed something odd. An underserved man, who was standing on the side of the road, seemed to be engaged in a heated conversation with himself while everyone else on the road was consciously avoiding him. It only got worse when people started giving him judgmental looks and pointed fingers at him...

Science of Biases

Science of Biases

When I see how polarised the world is right now, I always wonder – how did we reach these opposite sides so quickly and so passionately? Why are we so ready to give in to violence over an idea that was not ours in the first place? From ridiculous arguments on the internet to full-fledged wars that threaten millions of lives, how did we even get here?  According to political scientist Lilliana Mason, our brains are wired to work this way. It doesn’t take much for our brains to switch over to an ‘us’ vs. ‘them’ mindset – research suggests...
