What Happens Over a Meal? is a psychologist-designed card game that turns your dining table into a space for curiosity, laughter, and emotional honesty. Rooted in research on relational bonding, this deck helps you go beyond surface-level chatter and rediscover the art of connection — one bite, one question at a time. Whether it’s dinner with friends, Sunday lunch with family, or a quiet night with your partner, each card invites you to pause, listen, and share stories that matter. Created by therapists who understand how relationships evolve, this isn’t small talk — it’s meaningful play disguised as dinner conversation. It’s the easiest (and most delicious) way to deepen bonds, spark reflection, and build emotional intimacy — without forcing it.

Behind the design

Why we build tools for feelings (not just vibes).

We created What Happens Over a Meal? because we kept noticing something in therapy — how the smallest moments of connection often begin with something simple: a shared meal, a shared story, or a shared silence. In our sessions, clients spoke about missing that feeling — the ease of talking without pressure, the warmth of being known. So we turned it into a game. Each prompt is grounded in research on emotional intimacy and communication, designed by psychologists who understand that vulnerability grows best in safe, everyday spaces. Because the truth is, real healing rarely happens in big moments. It happens over ordinary ones — the kind where someone asks you a question, listens, and passes you the salt.
