Behind the design

Why we build tools for feelings (not just vibes).

I don’t believe in blind positivity. Affirmations never really worked for me — at least, not the way they’re often sold. Telling myself “I’m strong” or “I’m enough” without believing it felt empty. For an affirmation to actually shift something inside, I needed one thing: evidence. I needed to find moments in my life that made the words feel true. That’s why I created this deck differently. Rooted in my experience as a psychologist, Sunny Side Up is built around three emotional struggles I see most in therapy — self-acceptance, letting go, and growth. We added our signature layer: guided journal prompts on every card. These prompts help you reflect, build meaning, and find real proof for the words you’re repeating. If you can’t connect with an affirmation yet, that’s okay. It means you’re still creating space for it. This is not about blind positivity. It’s about building self-belief with honesty, reflection, and care. I hope these cards meet you where you are — and help you reconnect with who you’ve always been.
